This is really important. Dog’s shed heat by panting (instead of sweating) - they expel moisture and heat as they pant and if that humid air stays around them, they will no longer cool down but will instead heat up even more, and become dehydrated at their body tries even harder to get rid of heat through panting.
A dog can get heatstroke out in the open if they are panting too heavily and making the air around them too humid and stuffy - they need to be moved (if possible). If that can happen to a dog sitting out in the open think about how much worse it would be within an enclose space like a car. Hyperthermia will kill a dog and it is a terrible way to go.
Call 911 in the U.S. anytime you see a dog left alone in a car in warm weather … or break out a window and rescue the helpless animal and save a life.

I think you can only spend so many nights home alone before you start wondering if it is because no one wants to be around you. And that hurts. Just being honest.
—**EMERGENCY - PLEASE SHARE!** We are down to 1 day to help Zyra - please reblog and if you can pitch in, even just $5-10, every bit helps! Thanks!
Zyra is a maltese/miniature poodle mix who was dumped by her owners in a high kill shelter. Though she is now safe with Love Habitat Rescue, she has spinal damage and cannot walk. She drags her hind legs. She needs to have a back surgery ASAP and her rescuers need urgent help coming up with the remaining $3k toward the $5k procedure. She is only 3 years old and this surgery will help her walk again! She deserves this chance at life. Please share and donate if you are able. Even though this project has 30 days, the funds are needed ASAP!! Thank you.
—NEW! Please help little Zeus with a reblog and donation if you can spare one! Thank you :)
Zeus is a 8 week old pit puppy who was rescued from a really bad situation. He was in a home in Mississippi where they could not afford to feed him, so he was being fed a half of can of wet cat food a day (the cat got the other half). His belly was so distended when AAVA rescued him (from a bad diet and worms). They took him under their care and got him all fixed up! He now needs basic vetting and neuter in order to be adoptable. His rescuers appreciate anything you can contribute to this sweet guy’s medical fund - he deserves a second chance at life; one that they can give him and many other pets, but only with your help! Thank you! http://fundapetmiracle.com/projects/zeus-was-starving1/677
—NEW! This is quite an amazing story about a service dog who brightens a young boy’s life and now the family needs help saving the dog. Please reach out by reblogging and donating if at all possible. Thank you!
Pepper is a female poodle who is a service dog to a young boy. She has developed 2 painful hematomas in her ears and they require treatment as soon as possible. She is currently being managed with medication, but her vet has recommended a procedure that will involve cleansing, hair removal, IVs, anesthesia and the surgery will provide the proper drain and seal of the ruptured veins. Pepper’s family is very worried about her and really needs the help of some kind hearts to reach out and help them get her the surgery. Thank you in advance for anything you’re able to do to help, whether it’s sharing her story or pitching in.
NEW! Help this little cutie with a reblog and/or donation so her rescuers can take care of her medical needs! Thank you so much!
Anna Banana is a 10 week old border collie who Animal Aid Vermilion Area Rescue saved from St. Martin Shelter. She is so sweet and cute and they want to find her a forever home where she can be loved as soon as possible. In order to do this, her rescuers need to get her completely vetted. She had not had any basic care, so she requires a wellness exam, all vaccines, microchipping and an eventual spay. Thank you in advance for your donations to Anna Banana. It is because of kind pet lovers like you that rescues are able to continue to pull these perfectly good pets from overcrowded shelters, who are on death row for literally no good reason.

—NEW! Please help Summer’s family save her by donating or at least giving her a reblog so that more pet lovers might see her and reach out! Thank you :)
Summer is a 5 1/2 year old female toy poodle mix who means the world to her family. Recently, her owner noticed enlarged lumps under her neck and at the back of her legs and took her in to the vet immediately. The vet performed a needle aspirate, but was unable to come up with an answer so she referred Summer to an oncologist. Summer’s owner took her for a second opinion at another vet who recommended bloodwork and xray be done ASAP because she believes they are dealing with lymphoma. Please help Summer’s family get her to the oncologist and/or treated as needed. Any help you can give is most appreciated. Thank you!
How can “biweekly” mean twice a week AND every two weeks?! How would you possibly know the meaning of the word when used in a sentence?!?!
